Simon's on Mass Ave. is one of the best coffee places around, and Simon (the owner) still works the counter and makes sure eveything is just right. The coffee is great, espresso really good, sandwiches freshly prepared, and amazing pastries from locally acclaimed Danish Pastry House, are flaky, flavorful and worth finding a parking spot on Mass Ave, to enjoy in an environment as cool as Simons. It's the best and most locals would agree!
Cafe Zing in Porter Square Book Store in Porter Square
This small cafe tucked into the Porter Square Bookstore in Porter Square Shopping Center doesn't provide a lot of seating, but it does offer lots of great items on the menu. Providing fair trade and organic coffees and cocoas, including original and spicy Dagoba hot chocolates, along with the delicious scones from Petsi Pies down the road, this place is perfect for a delicious snack to go. There are a few other treats on the menu, and signs advertise that they will begin carrying other foods such as Vietnamese spring rolls soon.

General interest bookstore in Porter Square. There is a coffee shop in the store which sells fresh pastries from Petsi Pies. Staff is very active and involved. The store organizes a variety of presentations by authors, followed by book signings. They manage to draw some top notch presenters.
